LAUSD Students Receive Free Vision Care and Glasses During OneSight Vision Clinic

Back to News

This week, hundreds of local Los Angeles Unified School District students will receive free eye exams and new glasses during a OneSight Vision Clinic at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. The clinic is hosted by OneSight.

Local area students will receive comprehensive eye exams and glasses provided by local doctors, technicians and teams from LensCrafters, EYEXAM of California, LAUSD, Visual Impact Now and other community partners who are volunteering services to support area children and families. The Clinic team will be able to manufacture the majority of prescriptions onsite, ensuring students immediately receive the quality glasses they need to see and learn their best.

OneSight has hosted vision clinics in Los Angeles 11 times since 2004, helping nearly 17,000 area students.

According to the American Optometric Association, 80 percent of what we learn is visual, yet one out of four children has an undiagnosed vision problem. “Too often students who are struggling to see are also struggling to learn,” said Melissa Standridge, OneSight Clinic Manager. “OneSight believes all children deserve the chance to see their future and reach their full potential through access to quality vision care and eyewear.”

In addition to California, OneSight’s 2014 Vision Clinics will serve thousands of students across Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, New York and Texas.
