OneSight and Over 350 Volunteers Provide Vision Care and Glasses to More Than 200 Cincinnatians

It’s always a special honor to help those in your hometown. And last week we were able to do just that with a charitable vision clinic in Mason, Ohio at the Luxottica Retail Office. Over a three-day period, and with the support of more than 300 Luxottica volunteers, we were able to to screen 232 local patients for vision correction and eye health needs; with 217 pairs of glasses prescribed, manufactured, and distributed we call that a success. In partnership with Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC), Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (CYC) and Su Casa, the clinic served highly vulnerable patients including local students, elderly patients, and Hispanic and Latino families.

“I want to thank our local partners at the CRC, CYC, and Su Casa, for joining OneSight in our efforts to change lives through clear sight across Cincinnati. I have seen firsthand that this cause is not just about providing glasses, it’s about the impact of clear sight from improving a child’s ability to learn and therefore their future success, to ensuring adults can provide for themselves and their families.”

– K-T Overbey, President and Executive Director of OneSight

Our clinic was full of patients like Emily, who noticed she couldn’t see the board in class clearly and came to OneSight for help. And it’s thanks to volunteers like Alicia, who take the time out of their hectic schedules to serve others, that we’re able to provide quality vision care to hundreds of these patients in such a short amount of time.

“Cincinnati Recreation Commission has focused on public and private partnerships to bring services to our citizens. Today we are thrilled to have partnered with OneSight to bring eye exams and eye wear to our seniors.”

– Daniel Betts, CRC Director of Recreation

This clinic complements the other work OneSight is doing to help close the vision care gap for good in Cincinnati. We’ve also opened seven school-based vision centers across greater Cincinnati, bringing permanent access to over 145,000 students and their families. And for those schools not covered by a permanent center, we hold annual vision screenings in the Fall to help identify students with a vision correction need. In partnership with Luxottica, OneSight has also provided vision screenings to nearly half a million Cincinnati students in the past 26 years. This September, OneSight looks forward to adding to that number as we join over 800 volunteers in a continued effort to #HelpCincinnatiSee by screening over 20,000 students at more than 70 schools.
